Utah-based venture capital firm Signal Peak Ventures has announced its 2012 class of the Top 100 Venture-affiliated Entrepreneurs, also known as the v100.
Signal Peak Ventures, formerly known as vSpring Capital, first put out the list in 2004 “as a method to identify and recognize entrepreneurs with Utah ties that are most likely to favorably impact the venture community,” the firm said in announcing its 2012 list.
Selection begins with the Utah business and academic communities, which are asked to nominate those who are most likely to lead a successful startup venture in the next five to seven years in the information technology or biotech industries.
Nominees are then asked to vote, and those who generate the most votes from their peers are named to the v100.
“The list of winners and the companies they work for is a very strong indicator of the up-and-coming entrepreneurs and businesses that Utah should be tracking,” Brandon Tidwell, managing director of Signal Peak Ventures, said in a news release.
Members of this year’s list will be honored at a luncheon in June at Rio Tinto Stadium. Josh James, the founder and CEO of Domo and co-founder and former CEO of Omniture, will be the keynote speaker.
